RoadRunners
RoadRunners offers fellowship and fun
for men and women, age 50+.,The group gathers monthly from September
through June to enjoy day trips to various places of interest within
a 150-mi. radius of Houston (courtesy of Harris County Precinct 4
buses. Past trips have included visits to the Museum of Natural
History and Museum of Fine Arts, the Mize Azalea Gardens,
Nacogdoches, The Painted Churches, Schulenburg, George H.W.
Presidential Library, College Station.
Trips scheduled for 2010-2011:
Wednesday, September 15: Liberty. Sam Houston Regional Library
historical sites, including former Governor and Mrs. Price Daniels’
home and St Stephen’s Episcopal Church, now designated a Texas
Historical Building; lunch at Jax, in historic downtown Liberty.
Touring the historic homes and St. Stephen’s involves a fair amount
of walking; however, there are places to sit in the Library’s foyer
and reading room.
Thursday, October 21: Brenham. Tour Blue Bell Creamery and Pleasant
Hill Winery (the St. Clare Monastery, miniature horse farm is an
alternative); lunch at Funky Art Café.
Wednesday, November 10: Houston. The Federal Reserve; lunch at
Irma's.
Wednesday, January 19: Destination to be announced.
Note: Precinct 4 has changed the reservation policy for buses. As
dates and trips are confirmed for the spring, they will be posted
online, in the newsletter and the weekly bulletin. As always, your
suggestions for trips are welcome!
