Vestry Resources - Diocesan Guidelines

1. Support the Rector in carrying out requirements documented in the DOT Clergy Manual. Updated in October at the annual Diocesan Clergy Conference.

  a. Support the Diocesan Mission: We are one Church of Miraculous Expectation, empowered by the Gospel of Jesus Christ, called to be a diverse worshiping community of missionaries reaching out and transforming lives.

  b. Support the Bishop's Vision (See Appendix A of the Clergy Manual).

2. In all Vestry and church functions, abide by Episcopal Church USA and Diocese of Texas Constitution and Canons.

3. Administer Safeguarding God's Children Program as documented in the DOT Safe Church Ministry: Policies for the Protection of Children and Youth from Abuse. dated October 4, 2004. Implementation required January 1, 2005.

4. New policy called Safeguarding God's People is being developed and rolled out by the Diocese in 2008 - 2009. Good Shepherd will define new policies to be consistent with this new Diocesan policy as policies and training program are defined.

5. Submit annual Parochial Report on schedule.

6. Pay annual Diocesan Assessment and Missionary Commitment. Diocesan Assessment required to participate in annual Diocesan Council.

7. Meet with the Bishop as required to review progress on all programs supporting the DOT vision and mission.

8. Become a Resource Parish for other congregations in carrying out the Mission and Vision of the Diocese.
